IV sedation is also called twilight sleep. The procedure involves administering a drug called 'Midazolam' through the back of the hand. This will make you drowsy but not put you to sleep .You will be able to respond to requests from your dentist at all times but not remember much after the procedure.
Your dentist will carry out an assessment before the procedure to discuss the details of the procedure . Local Anesthetic will still be required for your dental treatment but this will not be administered until the IV sedation has fully kicked in.After the procedure under sedation you should be escorted home by a friend or family member who will need to stay with you until you're fully alert.
